Are You Ready To Say I Do ?
Marriage is a very big step to take, no matter that you can just do a Britney Spears and have your marriage dissolved in less than 24 hours. There’s a reason why the words “for better or for worse, till death do us part” are included in the vows and surely you wouldn’t want to be remembered as the woman who needed to walk down the aisle for ten times before finding her perfect mate. Or do you?
I’m sure you don’t.
Marriage is a sacrament that is meant to be a permanent union, in spite of the legal system allowing it to be a transient phase between lucidity and temporary insanity caused by inebriation. If and when you find yourself thinking about marriage, here are a few points to consider.
There is no right age when it comes to marriage. Some people are lucky – or unlucky enough – to meet their destined partners when they were only babies. Others, however, had to wait for years and years before they’ll able to meet their one true love. Don’t let yourself be pressured into getting married just because you’re very much aware that your biological clock is ticking away and all your friends have been married and you’re the only single woman left in the block. Giving in to pressure might just lead you to commit the biggest mistake of your life and end up married to a man you actually loathe.
Even though you feel you’re in love head over heels, if you’ve just met the man of your life two months ago, do take the time to get to know him a little better. Yes, I do believe that there’s such a thing as love as first sight but allowing it to cloud your judgment and enter marriage without even learning his middle name is carrying things a tad too far. If you truly love each other then there’s no rush. It’s better to know now if there’s something disagreeable about him rather than later, when you’re already bound to him in name and in the eyes of the Church and the law.
Lastly, never enter marriage simply to improve your current financial situation. Okay, so you’ve watched the movie of Catherine Zeta-Jones and George Clooney and they actually found true love with each other. But that’s in the silver screen! This is reality. Not only is it undesirable to be labeled as a golddigger, it also doesn’t feel that nice to sleep with someone you don’t feel anything for.
